Welcome Back!
A letter from Superintendent Wayne Barker
NACS school board and superintendent.
Dear NACS Families,

On behalf of the Board of School Trustees of Northwest Allen County Schools, welcome back! I hope this letter finds you and your loved ones well-rested and rejuvenated after a wonderful summer break. As we prepare to embark on another exciting school year, I am filled with anticipation and optimism for what lies ahead.

First and foremost, I want to extend a heartfelt welcome to our new families joining the NACS community. We are thrilled to have you with us and look forward to partnering with you to ensure a successful and enriching educational journey for your children. To our returning families, welcome back! We appreciate your continued support and trust in our district.

This year promises to be filled with new opportunities, innovative programs, and engaging activities designed to foster a love of learning and personal growth in every student. Our dedicated teachers, staff, and administrators have been working tirelessly over the summer to prepare for the upcoming school year, ensuring that our schools are ready to provide a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment for all students.
Safety remains our top priority.
We have implemented comprehensive safety protocols to ensure the well-being of our students, staff, and families. With new safety signs around our buildings and updated alert language, we believe the new terms will improve our ability to better communicate in different situations.

Transportation safety is also important. With nearly 8,500 students traveling to and from school daily, traffic can be heavy, especially at the start of the year. This year, road construction will add to the challenges. Please remain patient and allow extra time for your morning and afternoon routines. We also urge parents to remind teen drivers about school bus safety, including stopping for bus stop arms. Your cooperation in keeping our students safe is greatly appreciated.
Attendance is important.
Due to recent legislative changes and in an effort to provide flexibility to families, we have updated our attendance policy and procedures. We want to ensure that families are aware of these changes, and a summary of the updates along with links to our student handbooks and newly adopted school board policy, can be found HERE
Communication and collaboration are key to a successful school year.
We encourage you to stay informed and engaged through ParentSquare, the district website, school newsletters, and our social media channels. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s school or the district office with any questions or concerns. Your partnership is invaluable, and we are here to support you in any way we can.

As we begin this new school year together, let us embrace the opportunities it brings and work collectively to inspire excellence in every student. I am confident that with your support and our dedicated staff, we will achieve great things.

Thank you for being a vital part of the NACS community. Here’s to a fantastic school year ahead!

Your future is our passion,

Wayne Barker
