The Out-of-District Transfer Request Form is to be completed by parents/guardians who wish to request their child attend Northwest Allen County Schools but the student does not have a parent/legal guardian residing within the Northwest Allen County Schools attendance area.

NACS is offering LIMITED open enrollment enabling Non-Resident students to apply for a transfer based on capacity limits.

The following schools are open for Out-of-District Transfers based upon capacity limits in each grade level at those buildings. PLEASE NOTE – Not every building has capacity in every grade. When completing the form, you will be able to list your preferences.

Students must meet the following…
- Reside in Indiana.
- Have no suspensions exceeding 10 days or expulsions within the previous 12 months.
- Have not been suspended or expelled within the previous 12 months for:
- Possession of a firearm, deadly weapon, or destructive device.
- Causing physical injury to a student, school employee, or visitor.
- Violating a drug or alcohol policy.
- Demonstrate a history of consistent attendance.
- Be in good standing.
Denials of Attendance…
- A student may be denied for 10 or more days of suspension.
- A student may be denied for suspension causing physical injury, drug or alcohol violations, and weapons.
- A student may be denied for having a history of excessive unexcused absences (NACS determines this number to be 10).

Are there transportation restrictions for out-of-district students?
- Parents/guardians are responsible for providing transportation for approved transfers. No NACS Transportation is provided.
- Timely and safe transportation is mandatory; and violations may result in revocation of the transfer agreement.

Can enrollment at NACS be revoked?
- Transfer agreements may be revoked for violations of terms, including issues with behavior, attendance, or academics.
- Serious incidents may result in immediate revocation without prior notice.
- Revocations will be provided in writing and will render the student ineligible for future transfers.

Can families appeal the decision?
- Transfer decisions, including approvals, denials, and revocations, are final and cannot be appealed.
Application Process
The application process will take approximately 15 minutes to complete and must be finished when it is started. Therefore, please be aware of the following:
- Applications can be submitted year round. The deadline for priority registration is May 11, 2026.
- A separate request must be completed for each child requesting enrollment in Northwest Allen County Schools.
- Families of non-resident students are responsible for all transportation to and from school. NACS will not provide transportation.
- Approved non-resident applicants enrolled as full-time students are recognized as NACS students and are afforded the same benefits and privileges as resident students, including full eligibility to participate in clubs, activities, athletics, and extracurricular programs as valued members of our school community, provided they remain academically eligible and in good standing.
- Non-resident students must remain in good standing, and enrollment may be revoked if excessive absences, truancy, or behavior becomes a concern.
- Enrollment in NACS schools is reliant on school and grade level capacity, as well as a student's attendance and discipline record. Applications are never based on race, color, religion, national origin, age, or disability.
- Submitting an application does not guarantee enrollment.

- Basic information about your student, such as:
- Name, date of birth, address, etc.
- Knowledge about number of unexcused absences
- Knowledge of suspensions/expulsions
- IEP, ILP, ISP or 504 Plan (if applicable)*
- Your top three (3) choices for schools (Exception – Carroll High School is our only high school).
*IEP, ILP, ISP, or 504 Plan (if applicable) must be submitted electronically with the transfer request.
